how to sew stretch material
Just getting back to sewing and back when I was sewing, we didn't have all the stretch material. Could really use some helpful hints on
sewing on this material?
Thank you.
Answer-
With stretch fabrics you'll have a lot of trial and error before the actual garment is sewn to find the right stitch, thread and needle that will work best. Heavier (stretch) materials will pucker less than lighter ones, too.
Practice stitching on a scrap piece of the same material your project will be made from.
More tips
- Look for ball point needles not universal needles
- Use a zigzag stitch
- Read through your sewing machine manual and see if it has a stretch stitch. Some newer machines have one.
